From The Head Master – Mr Similo Ncube
Our changing world is full of challenges and opportunities for young people. Finding a school that can provide a more rounded education to fully prepare them for what lies ahead is vital. Milton High School is that school.
Founded in 1910, and located in a spacious campus between the Ascot Race Course and Suburbs in the city of Bulawayo, we are one of the Zimbabwe‘s oldest boys schools, for both boarding and day school pupils. Traditional and innovative educational methods, sporting and cultural activities offered by the school all combine to provide a uniquely rounded learning experience for boys.
That rounded approach is really what sets us apart. From day one, Milton founders were dedicated to blending academic excellence with a wealth of experiences beyond the classroom. By helping boys to excel and have strength in mind, body and spirit, we aim to help them unlock and fully realise their true potential This is encapsulated in our motto “Quit ye like men be strong”. Today’s staff and pupils are living proof of the clear benefits offered by that ethos.
Also reflecting Milton High School’s commitment to help bring out the best in all is our wide and diverse curriculum, that includes the arts, commercials, sciences, sports, information technology, and vocational subjects. The enormous range of activities we offer in and out of the classroom ensures that each pupil can grow and develop wherever their interests and talents may lie. We offer an exceptionally wide range of experiences coupled with excellent teaching. A sense of belonging has been part of the School’s ethos since foundation and although times have changed our values remain constant.
We have a professional duty to cultivate the mind, body and spirit of every child through academic study, the arts, extra-curricular and activities. The School’s outstanding reputation in sporting endeavours – rugby, hockey, cricket, basketball, volleyball ,darts, tennis and golf to name just a few – are a testament to that. Ultimately however, to really understand the warm and welcoming atmosphere that makes Milton High School different, you have to experience the school in person. You can be sure of a big welcome from all of us, pupils, teaching staff, ancillary staff and myself.
